Client
Perenco UK Limited
Region
Southern North Sea (UKCS)
Scope of Work
Orbis is pleased to have supported a key milestone in the UK’s energy transition, delivering the environmental permitting required for the UK’s first offshore CO₂ injection test for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
The Poseidon injection test delivered to plan with a total of 15 injection cycles performed into the Leman gas field, mobilising 11 CO2 offshore batch refills. The successful test demonstrates the potential to safely store CO₂ in depleted reservoirs and marks an important step forward in developing CCS at scale in the UK.
Perenco is hopeful that this project will strengthen confidence in the CCS industry by progressing the regulatory path and contributing to setting the technical standard for future UK CCS projects.
Materials prepared by Orbis to make this possible included:
- Chemical Permit SAT & Chemical Risk Assessment
- Environmental Assessment Justification
As CCS continues to develop across the UKCS, Orbis looks forward to supporting further projects that contribute to a lower-carbon future
